Retief, meet Rory. Rory, please explain to Retief what happens you talk smack about that golfer named Tiger. What’s next, Ernie Els dismissing Tiger’s 19 hole playoff victory as “been there, done that, no big deal.”
Either way, Retief Goosen’s suggestion that Tiger was faking it, or at least conveniently letting the world know about his pain when hitting a bad shot, is further proof that many seemingly intelligent professional golfers are just plain stupid.
Stephen Ames. Ian Poulter. Phil Mickelson. Fuzzy Zoeller. Anyone else?
Retief, you might want to remember that Tiger won as many Majors last year as you won in your CAREER. And before you comment further on Tiger’s injury, you should also note that the reason you’ve earned nearly $1M this year with only a single top 10 finish is ENTIRELY because of man named Tiger – who puts money in every professional golfer’s pockets by winning tournaments at the same pace you make cuts, and who wins Majors with broken bones and torn ligaments.
Well, I’d like to personally thank “The Goose” for questioning the validity of Tiger’s injury. As if Tiger didn’t already have enough drive to come back stronger from his upcoming ACL surgery, Mr. Goosen provided additional motivation. Retief helped assure we’ll get to see Tiger continue his torrid pace toward Jack’s eighteen majors in 2009 and beyond. One can only hope Retief improves his game enough by then to be paired in the final round with Tiger. That would be must see TV.
Maybe they don’t listen to Jim Croce in South Africa. So, Retief, just to be clear, “you don’t tug on Superman’s cape, you don’t spit into the wind, you don’t pull on the mask of the old lone ranger and you don’t piss off Tiger, ever.”
